Just wanted to know if this is a good car. I’ve heard Scotty say VW makes good diesel engines, and I need something with more space than my Sentra. Figured this was the community to ask. I know he’s not a fan of VW overall, but I just want something to transport my family around…with a manual transmission;)

Depends on which Passat.
American Passat? Ehh... IDK about that one, it's not very good.
European Passat? Great! These ones are better since they are built better than the American Passat is.

If it was made in Germany and it passes a thorough pre-purchase inspection performed by a specialist VW mechanic, go ahead..
