2015 CX-5 > 2022 Ford Maverick

Last fall i bought a used CX-5 and am thinking of getting a New Ford Maverick when they come out this fall. I like the Mazda but a truck seems more practical for me with the bed, being able to haul my bike and kayak out to the lake, etc. I live in Canada so would probably opt for the 2L Ecoboost, the Mazda just hit 100k btw.

Advice?

Well, the Maverick is built by an outfit that deliberately screwed over millions of its customers by selling cars for years with inherently defective transmissions. The company knew were no good when they were designed and when they were sold. They continued to do so over a period of 5-6 years and it turned into a massive class-action lawsuit. (Focus and Fiesta with "Powershift" dual-clutch automated transmission.)

The CX-5 was built by a company that didn't do that.

Your choice.

In all honesty, I would get the Honda Ridgeline that competes with Ford Maverick. Their quality has been going down with those Ecoboost engines. Hondas have trucks that are for your purpose.

See below regarding the Maverick:

Also, the Maverick is too new and there will invariably be bugs/issues to work out the first  few years.  Ford quality has not been so great over the years.  Why be a guinea pig now?
