Scotty what do you think about the 2022 ford maverick truck I would love to hear your thoughts
I know I'll be staying FAR away from it. No more Ford for me.
@mod_man I would take Honda Ridgeline than buying both Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz combined which equals high end Honda Ridgeline lol.
@mod_man I have one question. What trim did you buy the Honda Ridgeline? I would assume it's the RTL trim.
I bought mine as a 2021 Ridgeline Sport w/HPD package. Leather was not on my list of needs as it gets HOT down here in Houston and cracks pretty easy. Mine is Radiant Red Metallic II with the gold wheels and ebony interior. Really happy with the appearance and I'm not even a fan of red.
@mod_man Nice. I like the Aegean Blue Metallic which is used in Honda HRV and other Honda vehicles.
That's a nice color. I like it as well.
Well, I think I know why the price seems too good it only starts at under $20k. It’s being built in Mexico.I won’t be surprised if In 3 years we will already be seeing them in junk yards. it’s really heartbreaking American car companies are being built in other countries like GM is being made in Korea, Fords in Mexico, Buick’s in China, and Chrysler now owned by an Italian company. I hope Toyota keeps building their cars in Japan, Canada and USA. It’s bad enough the Tacoma is also made in Mexico. Not to mention about 85% of what we have in our country says made in China. SMH
They don't call the Tacoma the Taco for nothing. 😂
As I mentioned on another post it’s dirt cheap for a reason. look up where it’s being built and it’s not the USA.
Hermosillo, Mexico.
BINGO! On top of that it comes with a Hybrid and an eco boost with knob like transmission shifter.
See below for more detailed specs and information (not opinion):
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=21m53LvzrzY&pp=QACIAgE%3D
it has no frame for one thing,
and a tiny engine for two
CVT for three
Wait....no frame? Crap engine? Crappier CVT?
If these are the specs, better start running in the other direction now, whatever that direction may be.
It's almost as good as the Ford Pinto
This has already been asked numerous times. Please do a search on this forum:
Here's a modified version of an answered I've previously given.
From the perspective of someone that owns multiple modern products built by Ford and is happy with them.
I would wait a few years before even considering to buy one
but what I’m super concerned about is the eCVT transmission, if you know anything about Ford and CVTs - you know it’s been bad.
Their ZF built CVTs on the Focus, C-Max, Taurus, 500 and Freestyle were absolute total garbage.
https://carkiller.com/scottykilmer/qa/cvt-transmission-in-limp-mode/
their later CVTs were even worse - the CVT gearbox in the Ford Fusion hybrid was absolutely horrendous. You just had to constantly replace them one after the other
https://carkiller.com/scottykilmer/qa/hybrid-replacement/
Given how poorly the PowerShift transmission was integrated and how much trouble it has caused to Ford owners
https://carkiller.com/scottykilmer/postid/142508
and what’s currently still going on with the 8 speed overheating and the absolutely terrible manual transmission on mustangs (you can find a lot of examples of that on the forums, the ones I took are from ones I recently answered)
Something tells me their new eCVT transmission is not going to differ. there’s no reason to assume otherwise. IMO it’s probably going to be a pile of garbage.
With Ford, you always gotta wait. They almost always mess up the first couple of years. Just to wait and see if the car they made is decent or total junk.
If I’d just have to have a Maverick I’d consider the 2.0 EcoBoost - what we already know is that that engine has oil consumption issues and the 8 speed has a tendency to overheat, but from what I’ve been seeing it’s bad but not terrible.
also, the new 2.5L engine is concerning. They named it “DuraTec” but I doubt it has anything to do with the regular and very reliable 2.5L DuraTech. it’s just too new to really know anything.
It’s a new design, with a brand new powertrain, in its first year of production, oh and it’s a Ford - “what could go wrong?”
The Ford Maverick hasn't been out that long yet. It sounds interesting on paper but I would wait to see if anything bad happens.
Compact 2021 ford truck. Is there a spec sheet released yet? I'm curious about it's weight capacity, engine specs and so on. Pricing almost seems too good.
They all look and sound good when brand new but I wouldn't even think about buying one for a couple of years at the least.
Do you think Ford Maverick has simple interior and technology the way it should be in modern vehicles like Toyotas? I am not talking about the engine and turbos which are horrible engines. To be honest, I would take Honda Ridgeline over Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz combined.
Ive owned Ford cars. They are very reliable to me. But I wouldnt buy any first gen vehicles, even a Toyota or Honda one.
I would buy a used Fiat 500 before getting one of these.
Scotty, Any thoughts or opinions yet on the 2022 Ford maverick Compact Hybrid Truck? Thank you!
Dear Scotty i was extremely intrigued by the low price of the base model maverick with the hybrid engine. I am a little iffy now that i see rumors that Jatco will be making the CVT transmissions going into them. Also they are also gonna be made in mexico as well which is another red flag. Has anyone heard anything that would verify this or debunk what i have heard and should i even be that concerned if they are?
Scotty what do you think of the new 2022 Ford Maverick ?
please search your question to see if it's already posted. Thanks.
I'm not a fan personally. I think Ford is trying to do way too many new models at once and the quality is going to suffer because of it.
Like to get your opinion on the new Ford Maverick truck and which model would you purchase and what options. I now drive a 1989 Chevy S 10 pick up it’s in very good shape but it’s starting to rust. I live in Perkasie Pennsylvania where they use salt on the roads. Your YouTube channel is great I’ve learned a lot of stuff.
The jury is still out, at least for a couple of years.
I just noticed how tiny the thing is. It looks like an SUV with the roof cut off the back. It's silly.
What do you guys think of the Ford Maverick?
Scotty, what're your thoughts on the Maverick hybrid use of a planetary gearset and two electric motors as the transmission? Some claim that this system is simpler and thus could be much more reliable.
Here you go. Owner reports are starting to roll in ...
