I got the truck as a gift, it drives fine but the only thing is I was told it only takes 89 gas. I forgot one day and put 87 and it started to bog down especially going uphill. After putting 89 back in it drives fine. Is there a fix for this, the truck originally was suppose to take 87 fine

Some of those trucks were E85-capable. If your truck has an X as the 5th letter in the truck's VIN, and the inside panel of the gas door says gasoline or ethanol fuel only, your truck is capable of running on E85. I had a 1999 Ford Ranger with a 3.0L Vulcan V6 and it was Flex-Fuel capable. It had an X as the 5th letter in the truck's VIN, and on the back of the fuel door, it said that. My '14 F-150 is also Flex-Fuel capable, identified by X as the 5th letter in the VIN and Flex-Fuel capable badging on the tailgate.
If your truck is Flex-Fuel capable, run a tank or two of E85. The 85% ethanol readily cleans out carbon deposits and restores performance on 87.
Beware, ethanol is corrosive to rubber components in the fuel system that have not been designed for high ethanol content fuel. If you do not have an X in the 5th letter of your VIN, and you don't have the badging on the inside of the gas door, do not use E85. Use ATS 505 Fuel System Treatment instead.
