I live in Ontario Canada and I’m considering buying a 2011 Ford Ranger. The one I’m looking at is the FX4 4x4 with the 4.0L V6, automatic transmission and only 109,000 km for $12,000 plus HST; it has power windows, locks and mirrors, the body/interior and bed are in excellent condition, and everything works.
The seller has already had it assessed by a mechanic and agreed to complete the required repairs (front windshield, lower ball joints, outer tie rods, left upper control arm and rear shocks) and provide a safety certificate before the sale. The main concern is moderate-to-heavy surface rust and scaling underneath, particularly on the frame and underbody, although there doesn’t appear to be obvious perforation in the photos. I’m planning to have my own mechanic perform a pre-purchase inspection, specifically focusing on the frame’s structural condition, before buying it.
That said it’s still a 15 year old vehicle, do you think it’s worth buying still?

Good idea. And have the 4x4 drivetrain looked over as well. Neglect in that area can set you back quite a bit, and possibly make the vehicle undriveable.

Check your local used car listings to get a sense for what these are worth (keeping in mind you're looking at asking prices). According to Autotrader, the asking price is high, so you need to negotiate DOWN.
