2015 Highlander 6 cyl ticking when warmed up

Hi Scotty I have a 2015 Highlander 6 cylinder. Since 90,000 mi it has a loud and annoying ticking sound when its fully warmed up.

When I first start up its fine but after its driven it has ticking sound like a lifter kind of sound.  I have had several shops look at it and Toyota mechanics. No one can identify where it is coming from. No engine light has ever come on. They just say drive it and basically live with it.

It now has around 130,000 mi and the same. I'm not comfortable driving it on any long trips. I have done research thinking it might be a fuel injector, timing chain tensioner, or o-rings under the valve cover. I did spark plugs at 100,00 mi. That did not help it. Its hard to tell where it is coming from, it seems from on top. Some people also say its normal whatever that means. I checked under the car thinking it might be an exhaust leak but that is not it either and not burning oil at all. I change it regularly.  I have tried many injector cleaners also.

Valet's keep telling me i need an oil change when I pull up and that just keeps getting annoying.

Thanks for reading and if you can give me some direction i would appreciate it greatly.

Thank you

Jeff

You should be able to use a mechanic's stethoscope to zero on on the source of the noise.
