Hey Scott. I have a 2015 Honda Civic with automatic transmission with 110k miles on it.
I was driving today when a “check charging system” light went on. Had it checked by my trusted mechanic and it passed all testing of the battery/alternator. On my way around town it happened again and I went to advanced auto parts where they tested it all and it passed again. I haven’t had any glaring symptoms of an issue other than that intermittent “check charging system” warning .
Some more backstory if relevant-
Just had my alternator and belt replaced in the early winter due to the car turning off while driving. Haven’t had that problem since that replacement.
Did you use a brand new alternator? Also check all the wiring.
Oh, are you still on your original battery? If yes, change your battery & check again.
I believe it’s a remanufactured alternator from advanced auto parts. Also I’m pretty sure it’s the original battery. I got the car when it had 27k miles on it.
It’s odd for a 6yr old Honda alternator to conk off.. odds are it’s your 6 yr old battery. Change it & then check again if the warning returns. Did you get a guarantee on the alternator?
