Not really a question, more of a sharing the outrageous prices for some basic maintenance.
So my friend took their 2015 Honda CR-V in for an oil change, and this is what the dealer is recommending to fix. Almost $2000 worth of work!!!
Some of the most astonishing to me:
$425 to change a valve cover gasket.
$400 to change spark plugs.
well what is the mileage on the vehicle?
100K. Some of the stuff makes sense to do. Dealer pricing is crazy.
Which is why they're called stealerships.
Why is dealer pricing surprising?
Well, not surprising in that I wasn’t expecting it. Surprising as more of a colloquial expression.
It’s typical for dealers to cast their net as wide as they can and pray that the customer gets trapped in it.
In addition to the suggested repairs, there could also be "secret damage" they do to the vehicle when it's out of site.
That way they can have a continuous paycheck coming their way.
well 100k is a milestone mileage. Usually a lot of things becomes due at that time, like timing belts and spark plugs. Yeah of course they're gonna charge dealer ripoff prices.
