2015 Hyundai Sonata SE 2.4L should I replace thermostat housing?

Long time fan of yours!

I have a 2015 Hyundai Sonata 2.4L GDI with 122k miles. My mechanic just replaced the thermostat because my car was overcooling (not overheating). He also replaced the coolant and he recommends me to replace the thermostat housing soon. No coolant leaks or overheating to report. What can I do to make the housing last as much as possible? Parts like that aren't cheap to find. Only dealers have them and I don't trust eBay.

Much love from the 702! Love ya...

Thermostat housing an expensive part? Last time I bought one it was about $10. Is it corroded or showing stress cracks? If not there would seem to be little reason to replace it. (Rockauto shows a Gates thermostat housing for your car - a good brand - for $21.)

Why would your thermostat housing have anything to do with your engine temperature?
