Friend had a "shudder" for some time, then the other day, the transmission "knocked" once and the car wouldn't shift into any gears but Reverse. Codes are for the solenoid valve.
Shop is telling him it needs a full replacement. $5-6k. This legit? Can the valve body be replaced? What about a cheaper rebuilt unit? Any advice is helpful. (I know Nissan is known for transmission issues, mileage is 115k or so) Thank you 🙂 /p>

At 115K miles that Jatco CVT is beyond its expected service life.
The money would be best put toward a better vehicle rather than repairing this one.
