Hi,
I have a question Is it safe to take my truck in long distance trips if it burns oil. I have a 2015 Nissan Frontier 2.4l engine that burns oil mostly when I'm in the highway, doesn't really burn when I'm in the city but it does burn alot when I'm in the highway.
Thanks
What is a lot amd how many miles are on the truck and at a 2015 it should be a 2.5 I believe not a 2.4?
Sorry it is 2.5l and it has 103,000 miles and when I’m in the highway, let’s say for 30 or 40 minutes driving at higher speeds it loses 1 or 2 quarts of oil it also depends how fast I’m going . Last year going on a trip to garland Texas, I live in Oklahoma so it took almost 4hours to get there and i saw that it burned 4 quarts of oil. The engine takes 5 quarts so it had only 1 quart left.
That’s extremely rare for those to consume oil like that. To burn that much oil that fast it has to be smoking pretty heavily? Cheapest scenario first I would check your pcv valve make sure it’s not stuck open or for sludge if it’s retained oil in the top end and the pcv valve is staying open it could be sucking it right into the intake and burning it that way
Ok thanks I will check that but it doesn’t smoke at all when I’m driving and also when I changed the spark plugs they had carbon build up on it.
I’m curious on this one that you could go through 1-2 quarts in 30-40 miles and it doesn’t smoke
How long have you had this truck? Do the dry and wet compression test.
