hi Scotty, I have been following you for some time now and would like to ask you questions regarding my 2015 Nissan versa SV.
I bought the car brand new and now has approx. 85k miles but for the last few oil changes I have noticed that the care consumes almost half the 4 quarts of oil that are required by the manufacturer. I put 4 Qt and when I do the change I barely get 2 back.
now, here is my dilemma. the car does NOT have ANY black smoke coming off it. the tailpipe is NOT blacked out. there are NO oil leaks under the car or anywhere around the engine. I have checked the spark plugs and they are intact with no build-up. I changed the PVC valve also but did not make difference in consumption. the only thing I do notice it has this annoying rattle when I give it gas, but I think it's just the valves making noise.
my question is why is the car consuming so much oil and where is it going?
If you don't see drips on the ground, it will burn it. The cat is doing the job of making the tailpipe look clean. Try some oil cleaner to see if the piston rings are stuck.
How long are you going on oil changes? A certain amount of oil consumption depending on the mileage your going would be normal
