[Solved] 2015 Toyota 4Runner front brake squeal in reverse only

Hi,

Recently replaced all the brake pads and rotors on my 4runner. I bought PowerStop kit from Rockauto.com and probably a month after installing them started getting a really loud squeal from the front drivers side brakes when going in reverse. Sounds seems to come only when moisture is in the air.

I called RockAuto and they sent me new pads and new rotors for the front. I decided to use the Autozone no squeal pads with the new rotor. It seemed to solve the issue, no noise for a bout two months and now the loud squeal is back with all the rain we are having right now.  I've made sure everything is tightened down correctly and grease applied on pins. This is the second new rotor and second new set of brake pads.

4runner stops great otherwise, no pulling and no wobbling ? Do you think caliper could be bad or should I just go get Akebono brake pads?

Thank you,

Jimmy

Fingers crossed you have better luck with the replacement rotors..

That was all it was.. I checked that rotor and it was out of round.. crazy brand new from Autozone Gold rotors.

Gosh, thanks for the feedback regarding these autozone rotors!

To be fair, they didn't fight it.. replaced it quickly and this one worked great.

Good to know.

I wouldn't worry about it but I would assume the rotors you got originally weren't very good because I've used AutoZone rotors and AutoZone pads the quality ones and they never make any noise doesn't really mean anything though but if you want the noise to go away I'd buy better rotors

I have never had a car that I replaced brakes on make this noise. I won't be buying PowerStop brakes again... ordered replacement rotors from the front.

Your the man Scotty, really enjoy your channel and watch every video. I've learned a lot from you... Thank you, Jimmy

Finally bought the Autozone black rotors and high end pads. installed today and now the front brake is pulsing like ABS is kicking in even on a low speed?  Possibly ABS issue?

It was a brand new rotor that was warped from Autozone... must have been parts from china. Getting the replacement one today..
