I changed the oil in my 2015 Toyota HL XLE (6 cyl) and when I checked the oil level on the dipstick, it looks like there's too much oil because the oil level is way past the high mark. I let the car rest overnight and checked it the next morning before starting it up and it's still the same. The owners manual reads 6.4 quarts is required but I only added 6 quarts. The vehicle is on level ground in my garage. I know I put in less than the recommended amount but the oil level is misleading on the dipstick. I rechecked the dip stick 5 times.

Did you change the filter at the same time?
If not, then you didn't really drain all the old oil.

Yes. Replaced oil filter also.
