2016 GMC Yukon SLT 125k mile and asking almost 20k got pre approved 7k down with bad credit
Scotty doesn't usually revisit topics he has already answered.
What if its well taken care of?
Doesn't really matter. They are prone to engine and transmission problems as well as HVAC problems and electrical issues. Scrupulous maintenance and low mileage of course may delay its falling apart. (The example you're looking at already has well over 100K miles.)
I suggest you do an internet search using terms such as "2016 GMC Yukon problems" and judge for yourself.
Do these realistically be reliable or still fall apart?
They tend to fall apart.
my cousins mechanic friend owns a GMC Yukon maybe 2000s with many miles and says it was a great reliable truck
Pre-bankruptcy GM vehicles were better built, particularly early 2000s and prior. However going back that far you have to deal with the kind of failures brought on by age. (Remember, post-bankruptcy is the "New GM", a different company than the shell of "Old GM" that was left behind.)
since he’s out of town and not in contact I can’t get his opinion with this one
I would be inclined to give considerable weight to Scotty's opinion.
Do you really need something like that and at that price especially given having bad credit? Aside from the fact that as everyone else said it's not a good car to buy (bad quality) but also you’re not getting a good term on the loan. Try to buy something with that $7k for now even if it's something smaller like a sedan and then build credit and save more money for what you want.
Just my two cents from the financial point of view.
Well you have bad credit and if you buy that you'll have bad credit and probably a bad vehicle. Those are not that well made. But if you really are serious, pay a guy like me to check it out first. He'll probably tell you not to buy it too
