My sister got a 2016 Civic ex with the CVT(bought new). The car currently has 180,000 miles, I’d say 80% is highway miles. when I drive it back to back against my 18” Accord with a CVT, I honestly don’t feel any slipping or signs of service needed. Honda recommends that fluid changed every 20k but apparently at 180,000 untouched it’s still okay. Do you think it’s too over the recommended interval to change the fluid?? As in- will fresh oil make it worse?
Thanks, all of you. I’ll try to see if I can find the plug. I’m just as shocked, too; all it’s been served for is engine oil, tires, breaks, and the filters... My sisters a (meh) owner-Oil changes are never on time….Everything still passes VA inspection tho! When I visit on breaks, that’s the only time it gets a thorough check by me and detail...Oh everything… gets serviced at Walmart 🤣 💀haha.
I would leave it alone.
That's an impressive millage!
Personally, I'd check the condition of the oil (though the level plug) and if it's not burned black metallic fluid, I'd replace it. Otherwise, I'd consider dumping it while the market is still hot.
Good to know they will last that long.
