2016 Honda Odyssey
I wanted to start off by saying that I enjoy your videos and have learned tremendously from them! My van just turned over 100k. I change the oil and filters regularly. This issue first started around 90k however it’s never been addressed. The tachometer on my car jumps up and down when accelerating between the speeds of 40 and 60 mph. I have added seafoam a few times when the fuel is low and ran it through before I filled up. It didn’t seem to fix the issue. I was told by some amateur mechanics that it might be my transmission and others have said it could be the vacuum. I also replaced the air filter. I’m afraid that if this is not fixed it may cause something else to go bad or break and be more costly. Please advise.
If the engine speed is changing without a corresponding change in road speed your transmission is on its way out. (Assuming of course the tach is working properly.)
Transmission problems appear to be fairly common on that model. When is the last time the transmission was serviced?
