Hey Scotty, I have a 2016 Odyssey, with 35k miles. The engine makes a ticking noise when idling. It stops when I put it into drive. I’ve changed the engine oil every 5000 miles. What could be causing the noise and is there something wrong with the engine?
Ticking noise on a car that new is not a great thing but it could be several things. I would take it to a good mechanic with a high level scan tool and have them scan it and see if they can find the source. Check to make sure your air filter is clean and your spark plugs aren't worn out and make sure your not low on oil. A few things in cars can tick so it's hard to say what it might be for certain. Get her scanned if you check those basic things and nothing it wrong with the basic inspection.
Thanks. I checked on YouTube for ticking noises. It’s not as loud as valve lifters rattle noises. (Very low noise level in comparison)
Oil level is slightly more then the top line.(3500 miles since last change)
And, isn’t it too soon for spark plugs to wear out?
Check the oil level. When did you do the valve adjustment?
Thanks. Oil level is slightly higher than top line. Never did valve adjustment.
Adjust the oil level and do the valve adjustment.
