2016 Honda Odyssey [Lemmon] : Vibration @ speed > 70 MPH

Hi

I have 2016 Honda Odyssey LX. I brought it at 1800 miles and started having vibration issues at high speed. Currently I have 40000 Miles and following program still there. Honda and Dealership has me play ping pong between two until I ran out of warranty

1. Steering vibration > 70 MPH and when breaking feels vibration only at this speed range.  No vibration or shaking felt at slow speed.

I have done following.

1. Resurfaced rotors @ 3500 miles by dealer: It did not resolve issue @ My cost

2. Replaced new tires @ 8000 miles by dealer's recommendation: It did not resolve issue @ My cost

3. Replaced with new rotors and brake [Power Stop Z23] pads @ 38000 Miles: Felt very heavy vibration when breaking during down slope with old rotors.@ My cost.

4. I get tires re-balanced every 2-3K trying to minimize the vibration but I don't think this is the issue.

5. Took it to multiple shops but no-one is interested in finding out the root-cause.

I need your assistance input to determine the root cause of this issue.

Thanks in advance.

So, the vibration only happens when you apply the brakes at higher speeds?
When driving along at 70 everything is okay?

The vibration happens when driving above > 70 MPS. regardless of applying break or not.
However, if light break is applied the vibration gets worse only in that speed zone. Nothing felt speed below that.

I just replaced the rotors and pads with https://www.powerstop.com/product/power-stop-z23-brake-kit/ @ 38K.

Has this vehicle ever been in a wreck? Why was it for sale with just 1800 miles?

Check all your front end parts for wear/play/deformity since you said the steering wheel vibrates. Check for a sticking calliper.

When was the vehicle last aligned?

This was never in wreck. Old couple bought it and never drove around for 1 year and decided to sale it.
If it was Sticking caliper, why the problem would only show up at speed > 70 MPH? Any relation?
The alignment is spot on, it was check at 8000 miles and recently at 35000 miles.

Wait, so the vibration occurs even when you don’t brake?? I thought your question read that it vibrates *when* you brake at high speed.

If you’re absolutely positively sure that this vehicle was never in a wreck, unfortunately, you’ll need to have an expert front end shop diagnose what’s doing it. Also, check out @yaser’s video which he attached.

The vibration start when van is about 70 MPH and if I were to press the brake the vibration on the steering gets little intense. Otherwise speed below 70 there is no vibration while driving or when I press brake.

Where is the video link for Also, check out @yaser’s video which he attached.?

Yes I have already reviewed this video.
Do you know any shop in Houston area who can successfully diagnose this issue to root cause?
I am tired of replacing rotors and balancing tires and playing ping pong with dealership.

You have a few options in Houston -

Please report back with the fix. Good luck!

Thanks everyone for your feedback.
Luck! I am not sure how long I can wait for luck to arrive. 🙂 🙂
