Scotty I have a question regarding my 2016 Scion IA, I'm making payments on it and I wanted to make it last for a long time. I know they stop making these cars but with regular oil changes and maintenance what else I can do to keep it for a long time. Also buying used tires with a good amount of thread on them will be better than new tires as an economical point of view?
Do everything mentioned above, BUT do not scrimp on tires. Used tires are always a bad idea unless you are just using them on a knock around car, but never on a daily driver.
Your tires are literally the only thing keeping you in contact with the road. Buy good ones. It is one of the areas where you need to spend the extra money.
Follow regular maintenance accruing to your car manual.
change the ATF every 60k miles and change your coolant every 7 years using long life coolant.
See here for maintenance to make the car last longer:

Never go with used tires, just price out different new ones.
