Depends a lot on how it was used (did it tow anything) and maintained.
You are right that the CVT is the weak spot (and CVT Crosstreks are pretty slow). But otherwise reliability is above average and repairs are cheap and easy. The AWD system is great, and the FB20 motor is pretty much bombproof (PS: the head gaskets are fine).
get it inspected and see what they say. If you get it, replace the CVT fluid now and every 50,000 or so miles hereafter.
