2016 Toyota Highlander 2WD
Wife drove the car earlier in the day about an hour total, parked the car in the garage around noon. Later around 7pm I took the garbage out and noticed a noise from the rear of the vehicle. sounds like an electric fan running (an electric motor). My first thought was the fuel pump I open the hood and pulled the fuse for the fuel pump, EFI 1 and EFI 2, individually, it stopped after pulling the EFI 1. When I reinserted the fuse it remained off. I've heard this before, but was unable to do anything before it went out.

My 2013 ES350 has done this since I got it in 2013. Sometimes late in the evening when I check the garage to make sure the door is shut, the ES will be out there with buzzing coming from the rear part of the car. I read somewhere it is the fuel pump or something about pressure relief in the system. I just ignore it now but it used to drive me nuts.
Thanks! It’s going to drive me nuts until I identify the culprit. 😉
Have you already read this? https://www.toyotanation.com/threads/buzzing-noise-even-though-its-turned-off.1031906/
Thanks ! I won’t be driven nuts.
You can finally take the garbage out in peace!
There shouldn't be any noises while the car is off. Is it a hybrid model?
It is not a hybrid.
