Hi Scotty.
I have a 2016 Toyota Highlander and I'm having issues with the key fob. The first issue is I have issues with unlocking the doors with my fob and I have to use the key. I have replaced the battery. On occasion it worked to unlock the doors. My biggest and stressful issue is when I am driving the car for a bit and if I have a passenger or if it is just myself and my granddaughter, if I have to pull over and tend to her, when I shut my door or if the passenger gets out and shuts the door I have a "key not detected" and when I try to push buttons on my fob the message stays. The longest it has stayed on was over an hour. I am at my wits ends with this fob. Please help me.
Thank you.
Joyce G.
Do all of your key fobs act this way? Most cars come with at least two.
@chucktobias No. Just mine. My son's works just fine.
That would strongly suggest that the key fob is bad and should be replaced.
