My key was in my pocket as usual but when I tried to start car the message said key not recognized. I popped the key into the slot on dash and car started. After that I was able to start car again with key in pocket. What would cause that and should I have it checked out. My warranty will be expiring soon.

You should change the FOB battery to make sure its not getting weak.

Use the warranty, … you paid for it.
