[Solved] Best practice(s) for using a engine oil stop leak?

Hello all,

I have a 2013 Kia Soul with a 1.6L GDI engine and 103k miles. It is leaking enough oil that I want to consider using a stop leak product.

But I do wonder: Does it make any sense to use a motor flush and/or engine cleaner first, then do another oil change with the stop leak in it? What are your thoughts on this? Also, do you have recommendations for any of those products?

{black}:scared: Don’t use it you can blow your oil cooler. I put it in my sonic and it blew my oil cooler cost about two grand to fix. Might’ve been on his way out but definitely accelerated the process.

You don't indicate where the oil leak is. If the leak is a gasket failure I doubt that the product will work. If it is a seal that has lost it's resiliency it may help temporarily .

The best practice to use such products is to use them then advertise the car for sale....

it is COMMON practice that's for sure.

I do not know precisely if it is a failure or not, but I am afraid it may be. While the oil light does not stay on when I turn the car on, it usually flickers just a bit, and it's been about 3k miles since the last oil change.

I figure if anything, adding a stop leak wouldn't hurt, but do wonder about trying a motor flush/cleaner right before it.
