Scotty, I agree with you that the modern day auto shut off at full stops feature is terrible for an engine/starter over a long time. Cadillac in their infinite wisdom, offer no disable feature in the XT5. Is there any way to disable that feature? Chip reprogram? The only way I've found is the set the AC on full, but that's not a great option once summer goes.
Thanks!
Moderators: any thoughts?
In 2019 and newer they provide a button, but on 2017 drive it in Sport Mode or Manual. Check the following link: https://gmauthority.com/blog/2018/10/lets-talk-about-engine-stop-start-part-2-disabling-the-feature/
I've also heard of a device that connects to the OBD port and disables, but I can't currently find it to verify.
@retoldpro
Thanks RetOldPro I will give that a shot tonight. Much appreciated.
They purposely hid it because that feature adversely affects their CAFE rating and the feds don't want you tampering with it for said reasons.
The computer software is encrypted but there are some boxes out there that you can control these features.
That chassis is used for the Chevy Traverse. You might want to look for a fix or mod that works for the traverse since those two share a platform. Foreign software for your car also will solve this issue as the Middle East and Asia models do not have auto shutdown at stoplights. A completely new firmware may just cure this problem. Also programming it as a fleet vehicle or taxi or limo mode will disable this feature. You will have to do your own homework on that one.
