Scotty,
I am giving up my 2008 Hyundai Entourage (176k miles) to my daughter when she gets her license in a couple months and need to replace it with something newer.
Until she heads off to college in 3 years, I need something that can make several hour family road trips with 5 passengers and a large dog as well as be able to haul around myself and some equipment (not heavy stuff..more bulky) for work on occasion. I don't want to keep using the Entourage for this so save the wear and tear for my daughter.
I have been looking at either the 2017 Ford Flex Limited (v6) or the Hyundai Santa Fe Ultimate Limited. They both have 3 rows and I like the AWD, and lots of goodies (my family likes these). I would also consider a Honda Pilot if I could find a comparable one in the same price range, but I thought I heard you say to stay away from these. What would you recommend, or am I missing a different vehicle I should consider? Thanks!
Skip both & get a Toyota Highlander or Honda Pilot instead.
Scotty recommends you stay away from the Honda Odyssey.
I agree with @InThrustWeTrust.
Consider Toyota Sequoia too. You can find a good deal on these ones, but be mindful of their nature (gas hugs).
How long do you plan to keep and how much mileage do you hope to put on (I.e. do you want it to last hundreds of thousands of miles or plan on getting rid of before 150,000 miles, as an example)?
I only plan to keep it for around three years. Probably put 15k a year on it.
