Dear Scotty,
I have a v8 Biturbo in my AMG GLE 63S Coupe at 62k. The system was throwing electrical codes at one point after the battery died completely. Dealer updated all the software. After I got it back, every time I accelerate heavily, I hear a whistling sound from the engine bay.
If I am parked, and rev the engine, there is no whistle, supercharger type sound. Only when driving and heavy accelerating.
At first I thought it was vinyl plastic rubbing against something. Dealer has looked at it multiple times and says the sound is normal, although I know it wasn't there before.
The only thought I have is that something changed in the code, is something with the control of the waste gates, but no one can confirm anything.
Congratulations on your move. I wish you well over in TN!
Turbo naturally are support to whistle when they spool up under fast acceleration, they spool up much quicker and make a lot of noise when working right. maybe when your batterie was failing made the turbo not work correctly and the waste gate wasn't working right. unless they are leaking oil or there is something wrong internally with them, I think they should be fine unless u get a Air fuel ratio code. if your really worried don't rev it out high and be easy on it especially if you want it to last a long time.
