2017 Honda CRV - We have been waiting for 6 months for Honda to provide a steering wheel air bag. How can Honda sell new CRV's all day long but cant provide us with a replacement air bag. Body shop states for safety reasons they cant use aftermarket air bag. Insurance company won't insure car unless its a factory air bag. Communications with HMC keep stating part is delayed. Any suggestions?
Here's the problem. By law in the United States, manufacturers only have to be able to get parts to fix their cars for the original warranty time so legally they don't even have to provide them and in many places it's even illegal to buy one from a junkyard. They're just going by the letter of the law. Realize Honda doesn't make those airbags so the company that makes them for that particular model may not even make that one anymore. Certainly a stinker for you. That's insurance companies for you too. Bunch of bureaucratic morons. You should tell him if they're only going to use that you can't get it. They can rent you a car until they find one that might light a fire under their butts
