Hi Scotty. Do you think it would be a good idea to get rid of a 2017 Hyundai Tucson and replace it with a Toyota Rav 4? I haven't had any issues with it thus far beyond a few recalls which Hyundai did for free. I just recently received notice that Hyundai will be recalling my vehicle for a possible fire hazard due to a manufacturing issue with the Piston Rod Bearing. Is this a major issue that I should be worried about. I've been thinking of getting rid of the vehicle in exchange for a Toyota Rav4 given your high praise of Toyota. Thanks in advance.
That would be a good move. Serious internal engine problems are common in Hyundai/Kia vehicles.
Apparently it is more common then people realize. I went to the dealer the other day to pick up an oil filter and noticed at least 20 engines sitting outside in the back that had been taken out of vehicles. It did not make me feel good especially after getting the notice of recall.
It’s a risk (you know your car, you don’t know what car you might end up with) - but if you can trade it for a RAV4 in similar shape with similar millage, I’d do it.
Just avoid hybrid technology and CVT gearboxes on the RAV4 👀
I think I'm definitely leaning towards that option.
Add the CR-V to your list of replacements. Maybe even the newer CX-5..
