When I put on the fan to blow at the lowest level I hear a ticking noise, but when I increase the speed of the fan it goes away. I checked the cabin air filter and shook off the debris but it still makes the noise even with the air filter out. Is my a/c blower motor going out or is it something else?
I have heard blowers with worn bearings make noise that goes away at higher speeds, but it's usually more of a squealing or rumbling noise. However the increased noise at high blower speed could be masking noise coming from somewhere else. Can you hear the ticking from outside the car with the engine running and hood raised?
No I only hear it inside, its loudest near the glovebox. So I assume it is the blower.
Yup, sounds like the blower motor to me.
Continue using it though, at the higher speeds until it finally goes out completely.
Also it might just be some debris stuck in the blower fins, try cleaning it & see if the ticking disappears.
