2017 Mazda Miata automatic has a metallic rattle on cold starts coming from the rear, behind driver’s side. Only when outside temp is below 50 degrees. It goes away when car is warm. It only rattles when car is not moving but is in drive or reverse.

It could be a lot of things but if you can jack up the car and let it run and listen close it might help you pinpoint where the noise is coming from easier. Just be careful when jacking up your car and make sure the car is steady and doesn't move before getting under it if you have to. If all else fails Scotty recommends getting a noise detector but at that point you might as well just take it to a good mechanic and they can help from there.
