Hey Scotty is paying $19,357 this is the out the door price, for a 2017 Mustang V6 Automatic transmission with 51,751 miles to much? The car is at a Ford dealership. What should I offer them? Are these years of Mustangs a good everyday driver?

I’ve heard from Scotty numerous times in his videos that those 10 speed automatic transmissions have had problems ever since they came out with them in cars like the Mustang. If it does have a 10 speed automatic then stay away from it.

Also, correct me if I am wrong, but the V6s have the problematic GdI direct fuel injection, which Scotty has also pointed out as a common issue in those engines.

Overall, I think you should stay away from that deal. What other options are you considering other than the mustang?

The 3.7L V6 does NOT have direct injection. That came later on the turbocharged 2.3L EcoBoost 4-cylinder.

That said, the 3.7L's were solid cars. The only problems they had were:

1. A/C issues ($3000 repair out of warranty)

2. Some reported issues with the 10-speed

3. The manual cars were equipped with THE WORST manual transmission known to man...the junky, clunky MT-82. Don't even entertain this idea. Go 10-speed or bust. Even though some had problems, a nearly broken 10-speed would still best that MT-82 garbage. I can not stress this enough. And here is Scotty on that subject:

As for price, they are WAY too high. That car should be at $15k, $16k MAX. They didn't even offer the Premium package on them as they saved that for the EcoBoost cars.

I would make them an offer of $15k, see what they say. Not likely to take it but they are sky high on price.

I agree with Mod_Man. Even a cursory Google search shows, for example, that a 2017 Mustang V6 with 29K sells for thousands less. See this, as one example: https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/l-Used-2017-Ford-Mustang-V6-Coupe-RWD-t67989#listing=281160678

The Mustang is a 2017

Engine:3.7L V6 Ti-VCT 24V
Trans: 6-Speed Automatic with Select-Shift

Is the 6-speed transmission a good transmission?
