Convert your Corolla to electric Scotty!

For a man with your skills it will be a cinch!

You could go really simple and cheap and use a forklift motor.  Better still, a Nissan leaf motor.  The best and most powerful would be a Tesla Small Drive Unit ( pricey - 3k for just the motor/inverter combo) Check out this forum - I've gotten so much from them...

If it's not a drop-in kit, then it's probably not worth the time.

Hard to see an upside unless it's something one wants to do as a hobby kind of thing just for the experience of doing it.

Agreed. It's still very niche. I am interested in a conversion but for me I know that range anxiety will be a huge issue, if you wanted tesla style range it can easily cost up to 40k depending on chassis and fab+ the knowhow and batteries themselves. Overall not worth it at the moment. Unless as chuck said you wanted to just go for it for the experience.
