2017 Toyota camry Key fob issues

Hi, My key fob has suddenly stopped working intermittently for opening/locking doors and trunk. Its a 2017 camry SE with 76K miles and the car hasn't been receptive to the key fob 50% of the times when I try to open/lock the door or trunk. I got the batteries of the car and key fob checked at the local autozone shop and they are fine. The mechanic at the autozone suggested that it could be an issue with the ecm module or something else (the car might have to be reprogrammed to the key). The diagnostics to identify the real cause would cost more and if it doesn't bother me, I should just ignore and live with it. Please suggest..

Before proceeding any further rather than just checking the batteries in the key fob I'd go ahead and replace them. If original they're 7 years old now.
