2017 X1 stalls after being off for a few hours

Scotty,

I recently purchased a used 2017 BMW X1, It has been scanned and throws out no codes. However, if it has been off for a few hours, it sometimes stalls and shuts down. The only way I've found to prevent this is to, immediately after pressing the start button, give it some gas and keep it revved for a few seconds, then let go from the gas. At this point, it sometimes still stalls so before letting the revs go way down I push on the accelerator a bit more.

The dealer where I purchased it, Autos of Dallas in Irving, TX, took a look at it and said that it had something to do with the timing belt. They said they had fixed it but a day after their alleged fix, the car started doing the same. Took it in again and they said they could not reproduce the issue. However, it still happens to me almost every morning. Any idea?

What about live data?

That sounds nonsensical. First of all that car has a timing chain, not a belt. So either they are lying or they don't know what they are talking about. Secondly the symptom you are experiencing is not consistent with the engine being out of time. The fact that the gas pedal affects starting implies a potential issue with fuel delivery or throttle body.

BMWs are extremely complex and tend to become money pits as they age. You need a mechanic specifically familiar with BMW to diagnose the problem.

Check your fuel filter to see if its clogged.
