Hi Scotty, I always admired about your great knowledge to cars, however I thought about buying a Toyota Camry 4cyl and I decided to rent one before I buy, I can’t believe how terrible their transmission, jerky and slow delay shifting and rough too, they stated 200 something Horsepower and I felt cheated because the transmission feels confuse what gear to go on, so I decided back out and bout a 2020 Hyundai Sonata limited with 1.6T and drives and shift gears like a dream, the Camry engine was loud at low speed, I’m curious why Toyota managed sell so many Camry and I don’t understand why people are so comfortable with these weird shifting transmission on the Camry, thank you so much and let me know your thoughts, btw I got a lifetime power train warranty and a 100,000 bumper to bumper instead 60,000 miles 😆

Because most of the people who drive Camry's arent driving like tools. If youre driving a Camry how its meant to be driven youre almost never going to hear the engine. Camrys are tuned for gas mileage so it will always keep it in the highest gear possible you're in eco(even more so in this mode) and normal mode. All sport mode does is lockout the last three gears. It's not a car for people who are going to be accelerating hard and be driving like speed racer on their way to work. That becomes pretty clear after driving it for a day or two. However, if you want to drive like a tool it has a manual mode where all the shifting for gas mileage goes out the window. The transmission is not going to let you blow it up but it will hold gears until redline.

I have a V6 2018, personally no regrets. I'd be kicking myself right now if I had bought a Hyundai over a Toyota. Would have gone for the 2020 Accord instead as a second choice personally.
