2018 Honda Ridgeline Torque Converter Replacement

Hey Scotty. Just want to say I love your YouTube videos. You are always a big help. I purchased a Blue Driver scan tool based on your review to help with the following. Was looking for your professional opinion. I purchase a 2018 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E a year ago and now it needs a new toque converter which after waiting 4 months it should be here this week. Dealer said it was OK to drive all this time as well while waiting for parts. The errors only come on 1-3 times a week but other than some rough downshifting and slightly poor gas milage it drives pretty normal. The errors and codes are: “Transmission System Problem” and “Blind Spot System” with codes: B1E9A and P0741-02 plus a cascade of other errors like blindspot and seat memory.  This all stared around 60,000 miles and I'm now around 70,000 miles after waiting for the parts. According to the boards at the Honda Ridgeline Owners Club this is a common issue with the 2017-2019 6 speed RL's often requiring the torque converter and sometimes the transmission to be replaced. Luckily for me it's a certified vehicle so I don't have to pay the $4000 for the parts and labor. However I was originally planning to drive this vehicle for 200k-300k miles. Now I wonder if I can trust the transmission and new torque converter for the long haul. I don't want to have to deal with this again down the road, especially once I'm out of warranty. This is my first Honda and I previously had 3 Toyotas that each went 150k-200k miles and none of them ever required major repairs other than general maintenance like brakes and fluids. So I'm a bit spoiled now with not dealing with repairs like I did on vehicles before my Toyotas. I do love the truck, but now I'm thinking about trading this RL in for a 2020 RL with the 9 speed since those don't seem to be known for any kind of drive train issue like this. But with the price of vehicles now that's gonna coast me another $6000-8000 or so after trade in. I suppose it's pay extra now or risk paying extra later. Just want to know if you think it's worth keeping or smarter to sell if I'm looking to drive something for a long time. Supposedly the new torque converter is redesigned. I can't seem to find much information about vehicle performance after the repair. Maybe that's a good thing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Really want a mechanics opinion. THANKS!

I would get rid of it. I would not buy the Ridgeline with the 9speed. I would look at something else.
