My car is a 2018 Mazda 6 with 12000 miles and AT. It has the 2.5L turbo engine. No codes found when I connected my scanner to it. The problem is that sometimes (fairly rarely) the low oil pressure indication will come on. The engine doesnt sound like it is oil starved and stopping and restarting the engine resolves the problem. The first time I saw it was as follows:
Coming off a mountain where most of the time my foot was off the gas and the car at idle. The indicator came on three times before I got to the bottom of the mountain. Each time, stopping and restarting the car cleared the indication. During the drive home, after about an hour the indicator came on once when decelerating at an off ramp (again, cleared with a stop/start). Then two hours later it came on while driving at highway speeds. Cleared with a stop start. It has only come on once since then, as I was pulling out of the driveway. It has not occurred in a situation where I could immediately check for codes, so maybe any code has reset by the time I get to check. Any thoughts on what it might be?
Oil pressure sensor/sending unit.
