Is the dealership ripping me off

Hello… have a 2018 Toyota Camry SE..automatic transmission 51k/miles… have owned it since new… always been serviced at the dealer. Went in for an oil change and the dealer is recommending to clean the fuel injectors and flush the brake lines…Car runs, drives like the day it came off the lot. Are these necessary on a car with 51k/miles??…. Is the dealer just ripping me off with unnecessary repairs? Thanks

You don’t need the other items;  however , if the brake fluid has never been changed (and now it’s 5 years) you may want to change that.   BTW, I would also change the transmission fluid (drain and fill only) every 40,000 to 50,000 miles and you are definitely due for that now.

.

It’s also a good idea to take the vehicle to a good independent mechanic and avoid stealerships.

Once your car warranty ends avoid dealerships for anything other than warranty/recall work. Find a good independent mechanic and get his opinion. and yes drain and refill your transmission fluid; don't buy the lifetime fluid nonsense.

If you're not having fuel system problems the injector cleaning is a pure ripoff. A case can be made for flushing the brake fluid (it absorbs moisture over time) but an independent mechanic should be able to do the job for less money.
