Hey Scotty, I’ve been hearing complaints about the 2018 Toyota Camry 8 speed automatic transmissions but it seems these complaints are more about an annoyance rather than a reliability issue. Are these transmission issues with the 2018 Camry just an annoyance or are these transmissions actually breaking on them ? My Civic runs perfectly, exactly the way it did when I first got it but I’ve officially gotten fed up with the lack of space and uncomfortable seats and handling of my 2013 Civic. I’m wondering if it’s a good idea to trade my Civic in for a 2018 Camry or if I’d be making a huge mistake.
Update : currently looking at 2019 Camrys which I heard doesn’t have those slightly annoying transmission issues
good idea! Toyota really messed up with the last 2 generations of the Camry when it came to the transmission. From 2012-2016, and in 2018, they had transmission shudder issues.
Yea the prices are very similar too.
There is a TSB for that issue. Check to see if the car you consider got that fix or not. Besides that, the other thing to dois to go for the test drive to see if you like it or not since you have driven a Civic and riding the Camry is a big change.
