Scotty,

Looking at a 2018 Camry from Dealer two-owners. 26,403 miles, 8 speed automatic, 2.5 L I-4 cyl.  Asking $19,892 which I believe is high.  Other than that, what do you think of the vehicle?  Good transmission, etc.?  Thanks for the input.

If it’s early ‘18, make sure that the transmission has been changed. Period. All early 8-speeds were crap and most of them were changed, … some were repaired. The 8-speed replacement is not the same transmission, it’s different. Completely different! Replacement one is a very good one!  If it was changed, … you want a hard proof! If not, … walk.

Anyway, … ‘18, ~26+ K and already two previous owners? There must be a good reason for that. Perhaps a sign that you should walk? Dunno, … but at the price they asking, I think you should be able to find one with just one previous owner. FWIW.

F.S.

2018 had transmission issues if you want to buy it you should have a mechanic inspect the vehicle.

Excellent cars. Price is a little high though as you said.

If they can work on that and it passes a mechanic inspection, I see no problem with purchasing it.

I agree the only problem is the price but I’m sure you can negotiate the price lower

Please make sure to research the transmission extensively before you buy and, if you do buy it, be obsessive about changing the fluid. I don't know about the 8 speed, but the six speed in my daughter's 2012 Camry needs to be replaced at only 137,000 miles. The transmission shop that I use won't rebuild these, said they have to buy them from the dealer. Dealer price for the transmission (uninstalled) is $4500 with a ONE YEAR warranty. I would imagine that the 8 speed is just as much or more.

2018 was the first year Camry of that generation and also first year to get the new 8-speed transmission.  Some issues for owners with that transmission.  See @ 1:15 in Scotty’s video below:

However, they subsequently addressed the issue in later year models.  There was a TSB for it:  TSB# T-SB-0330-17

Most reported the flash fixed their issue.
