My wife has a 2018 Toyota Rav 4 SE AWD 2.5L, I want to flush her coolant system. I normally like using OEM Toyota fluids but I noticed there is literally no coolant in the resevoir... the vehicle doesn't overheat but I know thats bad. My main question is should I order the genuine Toyota 50/50 coolant or swing by an autozone or advanced autoparts and pick up the prestone brand 50/50? Thanks!
As long as it meets the manufacturers specifications as stated in your owner's manual, use it. The low coolant in the reservoir is a bad sign. It means the engine is taking in coolant from the reservoir to replace what has been lost from either leaking or burning. Best to have it checked out by a competent mechanic.
If it says it's made for contemporary Toyotas on the bottle it's probably fine.
Your owner's manual states the requirements the coolant must have.
