Scotty, was a GM guy for 40 years but the 2019 F150 stole my heart as the 2019 Silverado was a dog. But now at 30k mile my Ford struggles to shift from 2 to 3rd to 4th to 5th. In order for it to shift I have to lift off the gas. Is this a known problem? Also is a 2015 Impala a decent used vehicle to replace a 250k 2006 impala we have had minimal issues with.
Thank You
Brad Steadman
Welcome to Ford transmissions.
No don't get an Impala. If you need a small car go Japanese.
Yes it is, the 10 speed transmission is riddled with issues. People have been experiencing lots of jerking and slams when the transmission is shifting. The dealers solution from what I’ve heard is a re flash for the transmission, which I’ve read from a lot of people doesn’t seem to work. I know there is a TSB for the 10R80 but again, I think that’s just for the re flash. Wish you best of luck. I am not a fan of any modern GM product so my biased opinion is I would stay far away from the impala.
Thanks guys. I have watched Scotty enough to know that the Toyotas are good.............however trying to impress an obstinate daughter who is the baby of the family..........could be tough sledding as she is putting up most of the dough. My Dad has been driving toyotas since 1979...............wonderful. I was a GM guy for 40 years...........my last one was a 1999 suburban the last of the big ones and this 2006 impala my daugther currently drives. I proly would have stayed away from my 2019 F150...........but the Silverado I test drove had the pickup of a dump truck! Hard to beat the ecoboost twin turbo.
Unfortunately, ecoboost is synonymous with unreliable. The transmission is just the beginning of your problems.
