Hello Scotty, hope you're having a great day and thanks in advance for looking at my question and hopefully reviewing it.
I have a 2019 Ford Explorer Limited equipped with the v6, it currently has 50k miles. I've started noticing the mileage I'm getting for every fill up of gas is changing... Originally, when I purchased the SUV, I'd get 360 miles + per full tank of gas and all of sudden the mileage has dropped to 280 or even less. Last night I had 50miles until empty, filled it up, it took 12 gallons to fill up with the 50miles remaining and my full tank readout was 223 miles until empty.. air filter is relatively new, less than a few months old, I change the oil every 5-8k miles with full synthetic and I run premium octane. Can you shed any light onto my problem? I've looked up a fuel filter replacement but can't seem to find anything online about a filter replacement for sale. Also, do you know of a reputable mechanic in the Las Vegas area you could refer me to?
Again, thanks much in advance and I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day. {pear}
It's under the door, passenger side near the front wheel well. You have to remove the heat shield to get to it. Pull the fuel injection fuse and run the car till it stops to get the pressure out of the system and replace the filter. You should do this every 30-40,000 miles to keep your injectors clean and operating properly.
Thank you very much Doc. I've been going nuts trying to find anything online about the location of the filter and am having a hard time finding a filter replacement online. I'll update in awhile
Filter are available from everybody - AutoZone, Advance, O'Reilly, NAPA, Rock Auto, etc.
Went to AutoZone to see if a code pops up, no engine codes. Asked about a fuel filter, comes up as not serviceable. Filter is integrated into the pump. I'm still kind of confused, I have plenty of power, idles smooth, only 50k miles, new air filter, oil is fresh. Full tank of gas didn't gradually diminish, one week it get 360 miles to a full tank then the next fill up it dropped to 280 miles to a full tank then dropped to 240 then back up to 280 and now down to 233.
