2019 GMC Terrain

Hi,

I leased a 2019 GMC Terrain 1.5L Turbo 4-Cyl. My lease expires April 2022 and I am not sure if I should return it to the dealer or buy it out. I only have 25,000 miles on the vehicle, it runs great and is a good SUV for taking my dog on road trips. If I want to purchase the vehicle it will cost me $15,840.00. With new car prices going through the roof I think it would be best to buy it out from the dealer rather than return it. What do you think? Have you heard of any serious issues with this model?

I have always been interested in the Terrains. Would you recommend buying one?

This is not going to be a reliable or inexpensive vehicle for you.  The problems are going to begin real soon.

I would return it IMO, the Terrain is basically a Chevy Equinox which is already a bad SUV. Probably lease something else and don't buy it out. Now if you really baby your cars, you keep up with maintenance and you wanna buy it out, go ahead but don't expect it to last 100k + miles because they fall apart around that time or less.

I would return it when the lease is up. A very tiny turbocharged 4-cylinder engine will not last long. If you want to, you can lease another vehicle after that. That way you'll get 3 years out of it, still under warranty and you won't have any debt in the end.

How much can you sell it yourself if you purchase it? You may benefit if you do it than just return the car after the lease.
