I am looking at a 2019 Mazda CX-5, it was purchased in South Carolina. Is South Carolina a state to avoid buying a car from? TY

Is South Carolina a state to avoid buying a car from?

Why would it be?

@chucktobias That is why I am asking! Scotty says all the time to avoid buying cars from certain states and I was not sure if South Carolina was one of those states.

@sarahsapp Generally the states to avoid are the salt belt states. You also have to be careful of flooded cars in areas prone to flooding. Carfax isn't much good for a lot of things but it can tell you where a car has been registered in the past.

@chucktobias thank you!

lol , it's no worse buying one here that it is in any other state! Just make sure and have a mechanic inspect it regardless of state.

Absolutely! I personally always check the car's location in Carfax, and I prefer South Carolina (SC) for the following reasons:

1. **No Snow**: SC doesn't experience snow, so cars from this state are less likely to have rust issues compared to those from northern states where road salt is commonly used.

2. **Moderate Climate**: SC is located in the Southeast of the U.S., which means it doesn't get as extremely hot as some Southern states like Florida, Louisiana, Texas, or Arizona. This can reduce the risk of engine overheating and general wear and tear from extreme heat.

@ahmad-tarik thank you!
