Hi Scotty,
I am contemplating buys my company truck (ram 1500)- 2019 Laramie. $20,000.00
or
buying a 2023 Honda ridgeline for $40,000
I like the Ram but I worry about reliability after 150K kms.
The price is good for the ram but will it cost me too much for the next 5 years
Ridgeline is a decent truck, but twice the price...
What are your thoughts?
Thank you
Steve
First, decide what you want in a pickup truck. The Honda Ridgeline isn't a true body-on-frame vehicle, it's a unibody with the attitude of a truck (the frame and body are one piece). The rear end is based on an independent rear suspension. The actual pickup has a solid axle rear end with leaf springs and separate shocks. It's more rugged and simple, but it's not as comfortable. If you don't haul anything substantial constantly, the Ridgeline could be a good choice. If you haul substantial stuff routinely, get a Toyota Tacoma or older model year Toyota Tundra with a V8 engine.
Forget about the Dodge Ram, it's cheaper for a reason. Ram is made by Stellantis. Fiat bought out Chrysler and then Fiat went under shortly afterwards. Dodge was absorbed into Peugeot, a French car manufacturer whom Scotty calls Three Stooges in automotive manufacturing.
