Hi,
I financed a brand new 2024 Ford Maverick XLT AWD, four months ago. The car plus taxes and fees came out to about $30,000 and I financed about $20,000. I recently saw that the dealership I bought the Maverick at has a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach E GT (16,400 miles) for also about $30,000. The Mach E is a car I really like looks wise and I’ve seen reviews that it’s a pretty good electric vehicle. I don’t have any major issues with my Maverick, just some minor annoyances. So, my question is would it be dumb to trade in my Maverick for the Mach E? If the dealership accepts my trade and there isn’t too much of an additional cost. I’ve never had an EV. My main concerns would be the charging feasibility (times and locations), how the Mach E holds up in the cold weather and the current state of the EV market in general. Fyi I live in an apartment in Philadelphia, PA.
Thank you in advance,
how the Mach E holds up in the cold weather
Just like any other EV I guess. Range decreases when temperatures drop. If too cold, you perhaps won't be able to charge it.
Here is the Scotty's video where he compares ICE and EV

My opinion of EVs pretty much mirrors Scotty's. Leaving that aside, it sounds like you have a major issue for charging unless the city is permitting residents who own EVs to run extension cords from their apartments. Generally the EV fanboys assume everyone in the world has a private garage or at least driveway for home charging.
@chucktobias Right the charging may be a dealbreaker. Thank you!

The Mach-E is Hencho en Mexico, as well as that Maverick. Ford has never been known for making quality vehicles in Mexico, let alone an electric vehicle that Ford has had minimal experience with previously. At least with the Maverick, Ford has some idea on what they're doing. I would take a hard pass on that, personally. Not only that, electric cars plummet in value even quicker than ICE cars. The dealer is probably chomping at the bit for you to buy that and take it off the dealer's hands.
