$38 is kinda expensive. Third party valves is less than $10 bucks. I bought a OEM one before at the dealer for a friends Prius. And it wasn’t over $20.

Depending on where the PCV is, it could be a quick job or a laborious job. It seems relatively easy on many Honda’s.

On many Toyota’s, they hide the PCV underneath so much stuff, sometimes you have to remove the intake and a bunch of hoses, which is a chore. Sometimes you even have to drain the coolant!!! Which adds up.

I don’t know how the Highlander engine is, so it’s hard to say if you got ripped off, or if you got taken to the bank.

Either way, dealers charge wayyyy more.

Also, why did you need to change the PCV valve? Did they recommend it? We’re burning oil? What symptoms did your car have?

They claim it was required at 50,000 miles. No oil burning etc. No symptoms, just routine oil change and tire rotation

I highly recommend reading the owners manual. Toyota (the company) lays out what you need to do at each mileage interval. Toyota (the Dealers) will always say something is required, even if it is not.

TMK, I could be wrong, but in the manual Toyota (the company) DOES NOT usually recommend the PCV valve change as part of regular maintenance. Only as necessary.
